Okay, so it's not strictly a local business, but I do live in Littlehampton, and I have written a book. Is that an appropriate thing to plug in here? I'll hold back on the actual plugging until I get an okay.

If not, maybe there should be a Local Talent sub-forum, where residents who want to share their more artistically based endeavours can, such as bands, writers or film-makers (if any exist).

You've made a very good suggestion and I promisse that I'll be working on it. Meanwhile, please fell free to "Plug" your Book here. And when boards are created, we will move your Thread to the right place.

If you like this forum, please invite your friends and family to join us  Smiley.

Enjoy your stay...

Ah, tremendous. Thanks for the reply. Now for the book, which is a collection of short stories; two novellas bookending smaller stories that all link thematically - here's the blurb:

Quote
After a terrorist attack on the capital leaves a wounded nation unified in panic and collectively grieving for an infant killed in the blast, one man finds his own special way of coping with a sudden growing sense of isolation. Meanwhile, a disparate group of damaged D-listers undertake a last-ditch journey to reinvent themselves and shake loose the labels that define them. Millard's follow-up to 2006's first volume is a book of fame and identity, obsession and social shame, and of broken people who feel increasingly further away in a world that grows smaller each day.

You'll notice it's Volume II, but if you haven't read the first one, that won't affect your enjoyment or understanding in the least. Both are available on Amazon, Play.com, or any good online bookseller, or you can quote the ISBN number into the face of the person working at your local bookstore, and they'll be able to order it in.

It's hard for me to objectively compare it to anything, but there are samples of both volumes available on the website, including the first two chapters of Volume II. It is definitely comical and satirical in tone though, with a pretty dark edge running through it. Parental discretion due to adult themes and mucky language, and all that. It's early days right now, so Volume II only has one review, on the Amazon page, so your best bet is to sample it for yourself with the extracts. If you don't do online shopping or don't have a credit card, seeing as this is the local forum, I'd be more than willing to sell directly, as I have a few copies here.

Any and all information can be found at www.franticplanet.com with updates (and other writing) on the blog you'll find linked there. You can also follow me on Twitter at @franticplanet where I post daily twitter micro-samples or join the Facebook group that's also in the link section.

Anyway, that is my shamelessly comprehensive shill over with, I hope you all check it out and see what a fellow Littlehampton resident came up with. Cheers.

This is a pretty shameless bump, but as an update, Amazon are currently selling it at 10% off, so if you wanted to grab it, now would be a good time - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1409284182?ie=UTF8&tag=franplan-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=1409284182
